How to Add a New Contract to a Company
To add a contract to a company:
- Open the Contracts Editor by going to Management on the toolbar and clicking Contracts on the Finance panel of the ribbon.
- Right-click the company to which you wish to add the contract and select New | Contract.
- Select the company from the dropdown list, or select New Company if you wish to create a new company for the contract, and click Next.
- If you selected New Company, you will be asked to enter the new company name and click Next (ignore this step if you chose an existing company).
- Enter the contract description (this would usually include the contract year) and, optionally, a contract number.
- Select one of the three contract types:
- Custom – This allows you to create a contract with custom specifications.
- SFA/EFA Formula Funded Contract – This will create a contract based on SFA/EFA specifications.
- DfES Contract (Wales) – This will create a contract based on DfES specifications.
- Select the contract year from the Year dropdown box and click Next.
- If you chose an SFA/EFA or DfES contract, you will now have the option to change the schemes associated with the contract. A number of schemes wil be selected by default. Click Next when finished.
- If you chose an SFA/EFA or DfES contract, click Finish to create the contract. If you chose a custom contract, continue to step 10.
- Enter the start and end dates for the contract and click Next.

If you wish to create a blank contract, click Next and skip to step 12.
If you wish to base the contract on an existing contract, select Yes, base contract on and click Select.
- Expand the relevant company, select the existing contract on which to base the new contract and click OK.
- Click Next.

If you wish to process a claim based on a custom contract you will need to define the correct claim period cycle for the duration of the contract. Select the option which best meets your contract claim period requirements.
The Custom pattern option breaks down the claim periods in weeks. The pattern should be comma-separated (e.g. 4, 5, 4, 4, 5, 4, 4, 5, 4, 4, 5, 4).
Please note that the period start and end dates and the number of periods in the contract can be amended after completing the contract wizard, if required.
- Click Next.
- If you based the contract on an existing contract, click Finish. Otherwise continue to step 15.
- Select the schemes to include in the contract and click Next.
- Click Finish.
